So much has gone on this summer in the way of ministry - we have not had time to sit and write it down!
I have to tell you, I have been schooled in the concept of service. I thought I knew what it meant to serve, but I was wrong. The men of the Trinity Rescue Mission have taught us what it means to give out of your need. Every Saturday for nearly two months straight, a group of homeless men from the TRM made their way out to the northside of town to help Pastor Jones rebuild his church. These men HAVE NO HOME! And they are out there, sweating in the 90 degree heat, hammering, drilling, hauling, and doing everything necessary to help this church rebuild the building that was burned down by drug dealers. Like I said, I've been schooled.
Christ said the greatest commandment was to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind. And to love your neighbor as yourself. The people all around us are our neighbors, the ones who live in apartments, live in houses, or live in boxes! Look all around you downtown and you will see who your neighbors are! Will you stop and help them, like the Samaritan, or just pass on by?
We want to invite you to come join us this Saturday at the Trinity Rescue Mission - corner of Jefferson and Union, as we minister to them. There are also women and children there who are in need of spiritual brothers and sisters in Christ to befriend them and talk to them. We know there is always work to be done in places like that, but there is also fun to be had - fun that is necessary for people to know that they are in unity with one another. Please come join us!!! If you need any information - just post a comment and we'll get with you!
