Today at the TRM

We had an awesome turn out for the Trinity Rescue Mission. We held an impromptu car wash to raise money for their programs.

We had groups from FBC, Trinity Baptist, and other churches come out to help! The residents went right to work washing cars and they did a FANTASTIC job!

It was so much fun listening to the band outside while we worked. Check out the pics below. We will be returning on the first Saturday in September so please come and join us!

August 2!!!! TRM!

So much has gone on this summer in the way of ministry - we have not had time to sit and write it down!
I have to tell you, I have been schooled in the concept of service. I thought I knew what it meant to serve, but I was wrong. The men of the Trinity Rescue Mission have taught us what it means to give out of your need. Every Saturday for nearly two months straight, a group of homeless men from the TRM made their way out to the northside of town to help Pastor Jones rebuild his church. These men HAVE NO HOME! And they are out there, sweating in the 90 degree heat, hammering, drilling, hauling, and doing everything necessary to help this church rebuild the building that was burned down by drug dealers. Like I said, I've been schooled.
Christ said the greatest commandment was to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind. And to love your neighbor as yourself. The people all around us are our neighbors, the ones who live in apartments, live in houses, or live in boxes! Look all around you downtown and you will see who your neighbors are! Will you stop and help them, like the Samaritan, or just pass on by?
We want to invite you to come join us this Saturday at the Trinity Rescue Mission - corner of Jefferson and Union, as we minister to them. There are also women and children there who are in need of spiritual brothers and sisters in Christ to befriend them and talk to them. We know there is always work to be done in places like that, but there is also fun to be had - fun that is necessary for people to know that they are in unity with one another. Please come join us!!! If you need any information - just post a comment and we'll get with you!

Let's Get Back to Work!

We are planning on bringing "Feeding Jesus" to the Trinity Rescue Mission on Saturday, May 3rd. Please bring your Sunday School Class and/or your friends. It's Christ's great calling to help and love those in the greatest of need. Let's live out our faith in the law of love.

If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food,
and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and be filled," and yet you do not give them what is necessary for {their} body, what use is that? Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, {being} by itself. But someone may {well} say, "You have faith and I have works; show me your faith without the works, and I will show you my faith by my works." You believe that God is one. You do well; the demons also believe, and shudder. But are you willing to recognize, you foolish fellow, that faith without works is useless? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up Isaac his son on the altar? You see that faith was working with his works, and as a result of the works, faith was perfected;and the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "AND ABRAHAM BELIEVED GOD, AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS," and he was called the friend of God. You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. In the same way, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?
For just as the body without {the} spirit is dead, so also faith without works is dead.

March Update

Life has been hectic!
The Lord has been good to us!
His blessings keep rolling over us!
Right now our ministry projects with TRM and Pastor Jones have been on hold because this baby has got us waiting around for her! She should be here any day now... and then we will be off and rolling again. If you are cruising by this site - please keep us in your prayers as we enter this new stage in our life and as we seek new opportunities to serve the Lord with our family.
Thanks!

PICTURES!

Sometimes it helps to SEE what the people of God are doing in a community. Builders Care along with a couple of local churches brought volunteers out in droves to help do demolition work on the charred insides of Pastor Dan's church. The rest of the renovation is still up in the air and may not be completed for some time. Please keep Pastor Dan, his familiy, and his congregation in your prayers.

Entering the home stretch...

Things have been very busy in our personal lives recently so we have not been updating about ministry work. Daniel did have a group at TRM this month and they were able to minister and worship with the residents.
The Lord has answered a prayer for us! The pastor who is renting one of our homes has been having difficulty making ends meet (he has been completely financially supported by his congregation, not receiving a paycheck). He has found out that he will now be getting paid which will help him greatly. It has been a test of faith for us, learning from his faith, that God will provide the money even with no discernable means of income. It has been amazing because he's never missed paying and we've never missed making the mortgage! If you would remember to keep this pastor in your prayers - his young children are still stuck in Haiti and we are all praying and working towards bringing them here with their parents.

Week 33 and counting! We are in the final stretch of getting ready for our baby to come home (or as Daniel refers to her "our pet human"!)

Post a comment or two! Its getting lonely here!

With God's love,
