I guess we're going to a U2 concert!

Thanks to my bro Luke for introducing us to a new site:
www.godtube.com
Its just like youtube but its all about Christian topics. One in particular that really got to Daniel was "Bono: A Conversation About Christianity". Check it out. The godtube link will be on link list from now on.

If you guys go, you'd better take me!!! I love U2's sound and they have always been a wind blowing from a different direction that they rest of mainstream label-dictated music.

For me, the jury is still out on whether their message is fully and truly Christian. We have to always remember that God is first and foremost a God of truth and that truth is revealed through words (more specifically His Word, The Bible). God's truth is revealed consistently throughout the entirety of God's word, not just Psalms, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon and John. God's truth is also revealed with clarity not confusion. That's what distinguishes it from the falsehoods of the religions (seems like I heard some guy named Ravi say that before).

U2's message is mainly influenced by two things. First, the war between the Catholics and Protestants in Ireland. I don't think you will find any serious theologian would would say that either side in this war is acting in a God-centered way. Unfortunately Bono seems to be generalizing that all organized religion is like that which is just not true.

Second, between this video and several other speeches I have heard Bono make recently it has become clear that his thinking is heavily influenced by the social gospel thinkers and their attempt to recast the purpose of Christ's incarnation as social justice in addition to (or instead of) the atonement for sin.

There are a number of other disconnects between social gospel thinking and scripture which I will not go into here. Just like with the whole "legalism vs. liberty" discussion, we ought to view everything through the lens of "does it glorify God" (I Cor. 10:31) and we ought to apply "glorify" narrowly rather than broadly.
